40 Weeks

This is what I look like after more than 7 days of contractions. Not too bad. According to the scale at my midwife's office, I have gained a total of 5.5lb to date. That's one huge 5.5lb belly. I had a really good long stretch of intense, closely spaced contractions all through the night and early this morning. My homebirth midwife came over to check me, and I'm at 3cm and 90% effaced. She and Rick set up the tub in our family room, and now it's just waiting for me. My contractions fizzled out around 7am, as usual, but have since picked up a bit. They're not close together, but they are incredibly intense. When I was in labor with C, I already had an epidural when the pain got this intense. I'm handling it much better this time around. It's amazing how much easier it is to deal with when you're at home. Hopefully I'll have an actual baby announcement to post this weekend. Sooner would be much nicer than later.
